Creative Design Processes

On the 11th of December 2024, my class put together our first exhibition. This exhibition was to display our work from our first module, creative design processes. This work included letterpress printing, Riso printing, workshop work and a 3-d collaborative installation. This 3-dimensional collaborative installation was the centrepiece of the exhibition; it was a large sprawling piece of work that everyone in my class worked together to make. The result of all our work coming together and it hanging on the wall is breathtaking and extremely visually stimulating. Moreover, our individual work on display included 2 A3 prints we made, displaying our letterpress and risograph prints. I really enjoyed looking around the exhibition and seeing everyone’s stunning prints. It is incredibly interesting to see how everyone interpreted the same brief, yet all the work is so unique and differs according to the individual.
In addition to our exhibition, we had a pop-up shop displaying and selling our own individual prints and work. We all took turns operating the shop in 15-minute intervals, this was a wonderful experience for me to get practice at stocktaking and handling the money. Furthermore, I sold all my prints that were on display and therefore made a bit of money. A fantastic opportunity.
Overall, this exhibition was a lovely experience, getting to invite my friends and family to view mine and my peers work, in a professionally high standard exhibition was amazing. The experience gained from setting up the exhibition to this high standard was also immensely useful and something I will take forward in my career as a designer and artist.

Professional Design
Practice
On the 23rd of April 2025, our class had our second exhibition. This exhibition was highlighting our work from our professional design practice module. The work on display included concertinas filled with gestural mark making, fabrics displaying iconic Glasgow buildings through type, a square acrylic panel highlighting a crop of our typographic building and a collaborative book filled with our classes work from this module.
As with the previous exhibition, I helped set up the exhibition and believe we did an excellent job setting it up to a professional standard, was extremely impressed with mine and my classes work.
My personal favourite work of mine that was on display was my typographic building displayed on fabric. I am fond of the detail included in this work, and seeing it blown up to a large scale on the fabric successfully highlighted and allowed the viewer to see all the fine detail up close and truly appreciate it. It was very visually stimulating to see in the large scale. However, my favourite overall part of the exhibition was the wall lined with the concertinas hanging down. Through our technical skills class we all cut a wooden piece that fit the concertina perfectly so it could be displayed in this unique and eye-catching way. The combination of all the diverse types of mark-making with the different colours was massively eye-catching and beautiful to see, my eyes were immediately drawn upon this wall.
Once again, we also had a pop-up shop that we took turns operating. I managed to sell quite a few of my prints again which was a great feeling. Having people wish to spend their own money on your work is an unmatched feeling, immensely proud.
